Full time preschool and kindergarten teachers are paid $30-35 an hour, depending on experience, and are offered health insurance, paid sick time, and paid vacation. We take care of our teachers, and we ask a lot of them! Berkeley Forest School teachers may find themselves in a situation where a sudden rainstorm blows our way, and we are suddenly tying up tarps and rain canopies, all while simultaneously comforting parents who have never dropped off their favorite little person in the rain before, and all with a confident and reassuring smile. Fortunately, you’ll be in a crew of experienced forest school teachers to help support you.

We recognize that although Environmental Education degrees are so wonderful and helpful in preparing someone for a forest school teacher career, these programs are not accessible to many people. We aim to support dedicated teachers in finding avenues to get the training and education they need to be confident in their forest school teaching practice. There are many ways to be in this world, and we’re glad your path has brought you to these words today.
